“If you open your heart and become like a child, you will always be blissful, always content.”~ Sri Dharma Mittra
What to expect in Joanna's class: Dharma yoga is a heart-centered compassionate practice (classical hatha-raja style). Devotional and challenging yet simple and graceful. Students are encouraged to share their knowledge with each other and breathe joy and playfulness into their time together. Pranayama and meditation is introduced in different forms at all levels. We end class with yoga nidra, a guided restorative meditation.
Elaine is an Ohioan at heart. Born and raised here, she got her first taste of yoga in high school, but discovered how deep and rewarding the practice could be while studying at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. From here she was introduced to the vibrant and lively yoga community in NE Ohio. The growth that yoga sparked and supported in Elaine has ignited a passion in her to share the practice. She earned her 200 hour certification in 2011 through Brahmrishi Yoga, led by Margot and Bill Milcetich. This is a therapeutic tradition that aligns breath and movement to discover clarity, peace and wholeness. Asana and meditation are tools to develop awareness of the body that blossoms into personal discovery, growth and strength. Elaine teaches yoga to hold a space for students to grow from within- aware of and trusting in their own experience.
What to expect in Elaine's classes: A class that is nurturing and contemplative. All classes include breath awareness and alignment instruction to encourage the breath and body to work together. We will both flow with the breath and hold static postures. Classes are a calm to medium level pace and intensity- beginning from a place of ease and working into challenge with support. Pauses are included to give us time to observe and reflect on our experience. At the end of class there will be time to quiet and soak it all in.
