Gentle yoga incorporates breath work, meditation, and yoga postures targeting range of motion, flexibility, balance, strength, and overall stress management. With soothing background music, a typical class may include an initial period of centering breath work, dynamic and yin stretching, anti-rheumatic asanas to maintain or improve joint range of motion, and additional postures targeting flexibility, strength and balance. Most classes will end with a restorative posture for relaxation and healing. While gentle yoga is in fact gentle in practice, it results can be quite powerful over time. This is a good choice for those new to yoga, those with joint issues, and experienced yogis who are seeking a change of pace or recovering from injury.
